SolarMax Technology, Inc. is a commercial and residential solar energy contractor serving the Southern California area. This privately-held company was launched in 2008 by co-founders David Hsu, Ching Liu and Simon Yuan. It is the only renewable energy company in California that offers in-house financing (solar loans) for qualified residential and commercial clients. Terms range from six months to 15 years and interest rates are generally lower than the market average.
Homeowners or business owners interested in leasing solar panels can do so through Sunrun, which has partnered with SolarMax to make Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) available to the latter's customers.

SolarMax has a significant international presence, specifically in China, where it has installed approximately 250 megawatts of solar capacity. This makes it the leading U.S.-based solar contractor in that part of the world.
