Sunworks is a solar energy design and installation firm that serves residential, commercial, agricultural and government clients in the western United States.

Sunworks, Inc. is a publicly-traded (NASDAQ) California-based engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solar energy company that serves clients in California, Nevada, and Oregon. It is located in Roseville, CA, but has regional offices in six other California cities and in Reno, NV and White City, OR.
In 2014, the original Sunworks was bought out by Solar 3D, a solar energy company based in Santa Barbara. Solar 3D dropped its original name, moved its corporate headquarters to Roseville and adopted the Sunworks brand.

Solar 3D was founded in 2002 by solar entrepreneur James Nelson, who served as CEO of Solar 3D and/or Sunworks between 2010 and 2017. After retiring he was succeeded as CEO by Charles Cargile, a business executive with experience in the tech sector. Business operations at Sunworks are overseen by a five-person Board of Directors, which is chaired by Joshua Schechter, a private investment expert who succeeded Nelson in that role.

Since entering the photovoltaic industry under the Solar 3D moniker, the company has completed more than 3,500 solar installations. About two-thirds of these

installations were residential, with the other third comprised of commercial, agricultural, and government solar energy projects. As a full-service contractor, Sunworks handles every facet of each solar assignment for its clients, including site evaluation, design, engineering, procurement, permitting, installation, grid connection, monitoring, and maintenance.

Solar products purchased or leased from Sunworks come from a variety of sources, some of which are based in the United States. Its panel manufacturers include SunPower, LG, Panasonic, Canadian Solar, and Hanwha, while it installs inverters produced by SMA, Solar Edge, Huawei, and Solectria Renewables.

Sunworks partners with many local, regional, and national banks and credit unions, in addition to private renewable energy investment firms to help clients find financing for their solar purchases. The company also offers solar leasing and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) options, for those who want to avoid significant upfront costs. Under its Power Pay Partner program, Sunworks will pay bonuses of between $250 and $1,000 for referrals converted into new clients.
