This week, another solar installation went live at an IKEA store, this time in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
The 590 kW system has 4,220 solar panels covering 118,000-square-feet, and will produce around 695,000 kWh of clean, renewable energy each year. That’s equivalent to reducing 479 tons of carbon dioxide, taking 94 cars off the road or powering 60 homes every year.

It’s the 38th installation on an IKEA store in the U.S., which means that over 85 percent of the furniture retailer’s U.S. stores have solar panels. Another project is currently underway; once that’s complete, IKEA’s total generation capacity will be 38 MW.
The installation is owned and operated by IKEA, but the company contracted with REC Solar for the development, design and installations.

“The Stoughton coworkers are excited to help contribute to this goal with our newly operational solar energy system. We appreciate the support of the Town of Stoughton, National Grid and REC Solar, our partners in this project.”
